The eastern coast of Taiwan is home to the island's largest aboriginal tribe, named the Amis. They are well known for their honesty, hospitality, and love of nature. The Amis' most important and well-known holiday is the annual Harvest Festival, from July to September. Celebrated with singing and dancing, the ceremony climaxes with the dancers arm-to-arm in a large circle.
